What is Spacebase Studio?
Spacebase Studio is a managed photo platform. It stores your photo library, gives you a Lightroom-style workflow to cull and edit, and lets you deliver galleries and downloads — while we provision the storage, keep it encrypted and durable, and host it for you. It's built around one promise: your library should be impossible to lose.
Is Spacebase Studio a Google Photos alternative?
Yes. Spacebase Studio is a Google Photos alternative for individuals, families, and photo studios. The main differences: your originals are kept byte-for-byte, your library lives on durable, encrypted storage, and there's a polished, end-to-end workflow to cull, edit, and deliver on top of plain storage. See the full Google Photos comparison.
How much does Spacebase Studio cost?
One simple price per seat, with nothing metered — storage, sharing, and full-resolution downloads are all included.
Personal covers one person. Team pools storage across seats, with per-seat pricing and free client guests. Scale is custom for high-volume studios and organizations. See current prices.
What counts as a seat, and do viewers or clients pay?
A seat is anyone who can upload, cull, edit, or manage the library. People who only view galleries or download their photos are free — view-only guests and clients never need a paid seat.
Are downloads, storage, or sharing metered?
No. There are no usage meters and no surprise bills. Storage, client galleries, sharing, and full-resolution downloads are all included in every plan — you only pay for seats.
How does Spacebase Studio keep my photos from being lost?
Storage is the source of truth and the database is just a rebuildable index, so even a total database loss can't take your photos with it. Your originals are stored byte-for-byte on durable cloud object storage and encrypted at rest, with the keys held outside the storage.
Are my original photos modified or compressed?
No. Originals are stored byte-for-byte and are never re-encoded. All culling and editing is non-destructive — ratings, flags, crops, and color adjustments are recorded separately, and the original bytes are never touched.
Who is Spacebase Studio for?
Everyone with a photo library to keep safe — individuals and families protecting a lifetime of memories, and photographers and studios delivering client work. The same app runs the whole flow: import, cull, edit, organize, and deliver.
What makes the Spacebase Studio experience different?
The whole workflow lives in one place with a genuinely considered interface. We take real pride in the UI/UX: a single, fast flow from import to cull to edit to delivery — none of the app-switching, exporting, and friction of stitching several tools together.
How does search work?
Search uses GitHub-style qualifiers you can combine, like album:Italy, tag:summer, rating:>=4, and taken:2024-06, and runs fast across your whole collection.
How do accounts, sign-in, and sharing work?
Accounts support passwords, passkeys, Google and GitHub sign-in, and multi-factor authentication. You can share galleries with links, deliver one-click .zip downloads, post straight to Instagram, and mount your library inside your computer's files like a normal drive. View-only guests are always free.
Can I move my photos out later, or is there lock-in?
There's no lock-in. Your originals are stored byte-for-byte, you can mount the library as a drive to reach the files directly, and you can download everything at full resolution at any time. Your photos stay plain files you control.
